Star Gazer - Preliminary Mock-up

When I learned about constellations growing up as a kid in Baltimore’s Edmonson Village,

I was so excited that I would stand outside and look up trying to see the patterns in the sky, despite the streetlamp’s glowing impediment. This sculpture is inspired by this feeling, the enduring strength of my ancestors questing for freedom by following the North Star and the Nacotchtank, the indigenous people, on whose land the park resides upon. These pages contain people places and ideas related to Anacostia and Washington DC that inspired this artwork.
